February Meeting Recap

IFMA Chesapeake members enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of the LEED Gold energy efficient Miller Branch library in Howard County.  This beautiful, two-story library opened Dec. 17, 2011, and  includes 72 solar panels, an abundance of controlled natural daylight, approximately 9,000 sq. ft. of vegetative roof, and many other sustainable, energy efficient features.

Speaker Kate Markert, Executive Director of Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens spoke on the  impact of strategic planning on a facilities department.  She stressed the importance of involving the FM early in the process, and how to make strategic planning your friend, rather than a burden.

Networking and dinner followed at Serafino’s.
