-How long have you been with the Chesapeake IFMA Chapter? What is your level of involvement?
I joined in 1990 when I was transferred to the Baltimore area, I had been a member of IFMA at previous locations. I have participated in the Baltimore chapter as a Regional VP representing the mid-Atlantic chapters on the national IFMA Board of Directors; A Chapter President and Chapter Programs chairperson. Since then I continue to support the Chapter on the Communications Committee.
-What benefit have you derived from being in our Chapter? What value has it brought to you professionally?
IFMA has been the major contributor to my career development. Through IFMA I have been able to meet colleagues from other states, industries & countries. As a Chapter officer and active member I have had opportunities to learn leadership skills that are not readily available in any other format. Certification program have provided immediate recognition in my career and with my employers.
-How does being a member of IFMA Chesapeake enhance your professional standing? What can it do for others?
The Chapter is the conduit for local career enhancement opportunities & education. National can only provide limited and long distance support. The chapter provides face to face, one on one resources, and acquaintances with common interests and goals that will assist an individual or a group initiative.
